1139 - Good morning. Six episodes of Buffy last night after dinner (yeah, turns out Jen is a fan, too). I was in bed by 11:15, Marcia and Jen stayed up talking and laughing until 1. Then the cops rolled on something and were parked across the street, doors slamming and lights flashing until nearly 3 AM. So we slept in. I made breakfast for the three of us, and came into work at around 10. Plenty to do today, leading up to an important concall this afternoon. See y'all tomorrow.

1527 - Yikes! Last night, bills and formatting all sorts of stuff for Jerry. Slept like crap and stumbled into the office a little past eight. One HR/Benefits meeting, and many boxed appliances for an upcoming event later, and all of a sudden it's mid-afternoon. I've got another meeting shortly, and must run. But I wanted to stop in and say hello. Ciao!

2206 - Good evening. Some progress today on a couple of fronts. Not as much as I'd like, but I managed to finish the first phase of a couple of projects, which frees up the next couple of days to get some more stuff done. Now if only the gremlins don't wake up as I stir the pile of to-do-doo...

1003 - Good morning, and Happy Friday. Meetings and deadlines, deadlines and meetings. Is there a reason that "dead" is so prominently featured there? I sure don't know, but some days... Today is MTA/MX integration day. Wish me luck.

1139 - Good morning! Stay tuned for a major announcement...

Brian"s office sideboard cleared of cruft1311 - Hi! I've been cleaning up my office, starting with the sideboard. That's been holding up power connections and a small UPS, a network printer (that spends most of it's time unpowered), the work laptop (an IBM T42p named Glorificus, more on that later), assorted books, and the topside pieces (monitor, keyboard, etc) of my testbed system, which was running Solaris 10 i386 Update 3. I cleared away most of that, leaving it looking as you see at the right.

Meet Harmony. You can see Harmony in that picture, too. Yep, Harm is a MacBook Pro. Not aircraft-carrier sized (that is, not the 17" screen), it's the mid-range 15" model, with the matte screen, 2G of ram and a 120G drive. I'll be slowly migrating to using it as my primary home system. We'll see how it goes, but I want something that just ... works. Mostly Linux does, for me, but I sometimes have to put significant effort into that process. And right now, that's not fun. So I'll make progress in a different direction for a while. More about Harmony as there's more to report. The name seems right, at the moment, as she's pretty but not very useful yet (see this).

Glorificus is appropriately named, after the deranged and moderately incompetent Hell God character from Buffy. She's strong, occasionally does something right, and flips into a different personality almost without warning. And she holds out the possibility of sucking out my brains. If you don't know about Glory, you should.

I've got some errands to run. So see y'all later.

0824 - Good morning. Up at 0500 and off to the office to take care of some infrastructure chores, I was back home by 0740. Another round of stuff to do sometime later today, but I didn't feel like hanging out much. This way, we can go get our shopping done and I'll head back over to Rockville when the time is right. The only downside was driving back in the 7 o'clock hour on a Sunday - PSA hour for most radio stations, sermons everywhere.

I forgot to mention WoW. Yeah, that's right, I decided to give World of Warcraft a try for a while. So, aside from watching Buffy, I also took my first character into a reasonably new realm for the first few hours. Kinda fun, haven't done any group stuff yet, just building strength and levels while picking up small quests here and there. On the Buffy side of the ledger, we saw Once More, With Feeling last night. Shudder. Cute way to get all the lies out in the open, but ... really, some of those people have as little business singing as I do.

Marcia's up now, so I should finish this up, finish my breakfast and we can get ready for an early shopping run. But first...

As Bush ramps up the troop strength in Iraq in an attempt to put down the sectarian violence, attacks continue unabated. And our troops stand up and do the job. Rock on! Not so rockin' though, are the losses...

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
