1005 - Good evening. On points, I'm currently running at 94% in my networking class at UMUC. I did about 5 hours of group project work tonight - there's more reading and another quiz yet to do. Points from that, the group project, and the proctored final remain to determine my grade on this. I still feel good about how my return to academia has gone, given the assorted pulls and pushes of regular life...

On the phishing front, hey, are you a CxO? Guess what? No one is EVER going to send you a subpoena by email. Not ever. Don't click, just discard. Or PRINT it and ask your corporate lawyers to look into it if you can't bear the thought of deleting an email. If you click on the link, you'll make your IT Department cry. They'll think about shooting you in the head, and do the pro/con argument of life-in-prison vs. the possibility you might do something so stupid again. So don't click on links. Just don't. Sigh.

1042 - Aaargh! School, prep for an ongoing work-related upgrade project, and last night's lawn work have kept me from visiting with y'all. Sorry about that. I'm in the midst of monitoring and sporadically participating in a cutover to some new production servers - I was on that last night until after 11. This morning, since about 0800, I've had my ass parked here checking email and observing the progress of assorted exports and other processes from the comfort of my OpenSSH session. If things go well, I'll get down to the office in a little while and move a SAN device from one rack to another. Thereafter, I'll be back home, and weeding out the front flower bed. That should be today, since tomorrow we're due for thunderstorms.

More when there's more to say. Ciao!

1749 - Good evening. Here's what's funny: garfield minus garfield. Heh. So, yesterday went pretty much as planned. Today as well, I guess. I was thinking about painting, but cleaning was more important, so the upstairs, bathrooms, dusting, etc, etc. That took most of the day once the shopping was done. Sometime I'll get the color coats on the dining room. Really.

Eight is still too many. Our condolences to the families and units of these fallen heros.

• Sgt. William E. Allmon, 25, of Ardmore, Okla., died April 12 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
• Cpl. Richard J. Nelson, 23, of Racine, Wis., died April 14 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.
• Lance Cpl. Dean D. Opicka, 29, of Waukesha, Wis., died April 14 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.
• Sgt. Joseph A. Richard III, 27, of Lafayette, La., died April 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
• Spc. Arturo Huerta-Cruz, 23, of Clearwater, Fla., died April 14 in Tuz, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
• 1st Sgt. Luke J. Mercardante, 35, of Athens, Ga., died April 15 while conducting combat operations in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
• Cpl. Kyle W. Wilks, 24, of Rogers, Ark., died April 15 while conducting combat operations in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
• Staff Sgt. Jason L. Brown, 29, of Magnolia, Texas, died April 17 in Sama Village, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked using small arms fire and grenades.
