1215 - Good afternoon. Vote! If you don't, the wrong lizard might get in. Vote for Bob, wouldn't that be fun? We'd be in for a smaller government, that's for sure. Marcia and I drove past our old polling place, and were in line at Bowie State University at about 0630. We were out the door having voted by 0800. I'd say that by the time the doors opened there were 300 or so waiting, and by the time we left, there were 400-500 queued up. Solidly Democratic crowd, if I'm any judge. If you care, vote. Vote!

Nothing more for now. Ciao!

2122 - Nothing new to report. Plenty of OLD, and plenty of SPECULATION. But that's CNN for you. When they're projecting winners based upon 4% of precincts reporting, and a 3% margin between candidates ... well, that's just silly. If I were cynical (oh, look, I AM!), I might say that it doesn't matter - money will continue to flow to the center, and since I live near the center, the economy here will be good. But I think we're going to be in for some bad times, regardless of who wins. Good luck, and be careful out there.

1853 - Good evening. Happy mouth, right about now. I bought some green Kenya AA Giakanja beans, and a hand mill from Sweet Maria's. I roasted a small batch, cooled the beans, milled them, and made a nice little cup of espresso to share with Marcia. Um, YUM! Of course, the downside is that most regular coffee is going to suck, just a little bit (or a lot, depending). I also have three pounds of assorted Peet's blends — those came in with the latest KFOG Live From The Archives disc.

Tonight, a quiz needs taking. But first, supper calls. Ciao!

2022 - Good evening. Last night was all quiz. Silly, but I had to do every step of each question in order to verify actual effective user permissions. The interaction of share permissions and NTFS permissions in windows is just loony. Yow! And the week's not over yet. I'm working tomorrow with a couple of folks doing a rack move. It's more excitement than I really want on a Saturday morning, but that's when the window opens. Time to relax for a few minutes. Ciao!

1435 - Good afternoon. Successful few hours at work today - laid several outstanding issues to rest between moving some gear and reconfiguring some other gear. Now that I'm home, we have chores and a few errands to run, yet, so I've not much time. Oh, you'll see that I finally managed to get the rainfall table up, updated with October's meager fall. Come the winter, I'll also be estimating precipitation with the 1' of snow ~= 1" of rain faux metric. More later if pertinent. Ciao!

0725 - Good evening. November's trending warm, hereabouts, and that's not bad, since I spent a few hours in the yard today: leaves, grass, and dog crap. Temps are supposed to start dropping again - we should have morning frosts back this week. Last night, a popup shower (radar showed it only over us, and about a 5 mile radius) dropped about a third of an inch of rain in 15 minutes. An hour later, the skies were clear. That didn't stop the dogs from rolling in the wet grass, though. Sigh. Tonight, a formatting task for Jerry, a check-in for my online class, and prep for the work day tomorrow.

Only one combat casualty this week, of three service deaths reported this week. Is this indicative of progress? One can but hope. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
