2108 - So. Work all day. Home before 5. Change, then onto the elliptical for 3400 strides / 500 calories in ~30 minutes. Stretch and cool down for 10 minutes. Feed the dogs. Walk Lexi. Prep and grill sixteen turkey burgers. Eat dinner. Dog treats. Walk Lexi. Roast coffee. This post. Shower. Remote work for things that need doing outside of business hours. Collapse. Start all over again tomorrow. Some days seem like they just won't end. Ciao!

2207 - Warm here, but that's about to come to an end - cooler weather rolling through from the west as Earl slides past headed north ... well east of us. Meantime I'm updating systems at work, and about ready to call it a night. Tired, maybe I'll get to sleep in one day over the holiday weekend. HAHAHAHAHA! I crack myself up. Ciao!

2213 - Making progress on many fronts. I gave over an hour today to a time management talk given by Randy Pausch, shortly before his death untimely. I was pointed to it by this blog post by Ben Rockwood. Watch it for the first twenty minutes or so, and then find you have to listen all the way through. Here:

Synchronized resting
Synchronized resting

1642 - So sleeping in wasn't an option: the dogs enacted their version of the 0600 alarm. So, up and feeding and walking, all done by 0700. I suppose I could have gone back to bed, but I didn't. Yardwork today: pruning in front, and removing four shrubs that were more invasive than I'd wanted in the landscape. Another couple of years and they'd have been much more difficult to remove. I roasted several days worth of Sumatra Onan Ganjang Cultivar, thereafter.

At right, you can see the state of the dogs, from a few evenings ago. They're continuing to hope that synchronized sleeping becomes an official event at the Doglympics. Here, of course, they've not got their alignment precise enough for competition, but it's always good to work on form every time you sleep, right?

Now, back to mucking around with Nexenta Core 3. Ciao!

2104 - The most important thing I have to do today is say goodbye to Vanya. I'll do that privately, though.

. . .

The second things are both past due. Happy belated birthday to Pete and to Robbie. You know who you are.

. . .

I'll tell you one of the things that really gets under my skin - texts that cost a bunch of bucks, developed with taxpayer dollars. I've already paid for the fsck'ng thing, dudes! Like this site: http://www.aliceprogramming.net/ I want to mess with Alice, and look at the text. But they're double-dipping. I *hate* that.

A bad week in Afghanistan for our forces. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
