Election Day

Normally I'd just exhort folks to get out and vote. I figured if people pay enough attention to get out and vote, they'd eventually notice that some of the people they're voting for are actively working against the interests of the majority of citizens.

Today I ask that you get out and vote for people who will work to reverse the changes engineered by the kleptocracy that was voted back into office at the national level two years ago. ALSO remember that it takes longer to undo damage, so let's just voting anything identifying as Republican out of office at ALL levels of government for the next couple of decades at least. Why all levels? Because local matters a lot. Governors will appoint replacements. Legislatures will redistrict to try and keep or regain power. 

Are there some good people who identify as Republican? Yeah, probably, but mostly they've sat passive and/or coat-tailed their way through the damage being wrought upon our nation. If their lust for position and power out-weighs their ability to stand up for what's best, they're not working for you, they're working for themselves. Fuck that.

I'm sorry that I have to tell you that you have to vote for a politician, but that's how our system works. That said, you have no responsibility to vote for crooks, narcissists, or psychopaths cosplaying as politicians. DO NOT pay attention to what they say. Pay attention to what they do, and what the effects of their actions are on your family, friends, and local community. Then ask yourself: Are the groups they vilify the ones causing your problems, or are those groups just waved in front of your face to distract you from the true actions of the persons seeking to keep power above all else.
