Snow Day

Not today, but tomorrow, we are expecting an inch or two of snowfall. I don't expect it to stick around, as it's been reasonably warm (low 40's F) for a few days. But still. Snow.

Today's 2.5 mile walk with the dog looked promising, earlier in the morning it was partly cloudy and the temps were headed north of 40°... but by the time I broke away from the keyboard, it was cloudy, the wind had picked up, and while the temp was 42°, the windchill had it down in the mid-20's. Sigh. We did the walk and unusually for this time of year, all the layers stayed on for the whole walk.

Seedlings

Starting the plants

Last year, Marcia wanted to start growing veggies and such again, we had not done so since we moved north in 2021. We had seedlings going by mid-March, and they were doing pretty well. But then Marcia got sick.

The seedlings last year survived, and I got the back yard garden beds prepared and ready, and transplanted the seedlings pretty late, June I think. While they grew, they didn't thrive, mostly due to inattention. I had more important tasks and issues to deal with, then.

This year, I'm giving it another go. On Saturday, March 28th, I got setup and started a bunch of seeds. Six varieties of tomato, four different peppers, green beans, basil, and (starting the the smaller peat containers (shown center in the picture above) I've got a dozen each of zinnias and marigolds to provide some additonal color around the yard this year.

Now, nine days later, the zinnias, beans, and one of the tomatoes are showing leaves above the pot already. Progress, eh? WIsh me luck.

Things I Wonder About

I looked at my watch at noon, having spent the first hours of my day at desk and keyboard. Interestingly, the watch thought I'd already done a couple of minutes of exercise. What's up with that?
