Waning Days of Summer

We're still short on rain but August has otherwise been reasonably mild for most of the month. Today it's mid-70's and low humidity, so I've got windows open and a light breeze pushing fresh air through the house.

When Georgia and I get out to walk, she still heads out into the local pond for a wade (or nearly a swim, toes barely tapping the bottom) at around the 2 mile mark on our route:

In other Georgia news, I got the vet to have a look at her the other day, and it turns out she's allergic to ragweed pollen. This is the third year for this reaction, which lasts for about 6 weeks-ish. But caught early this time, and got her on Apoquel, which knocked it down in about 36 hours. I'll keep her on it until around the end of September. Big win!

Upcoming Fun

I've got blood work due early in September, in advance of my late-month physical. The only hot topic for me is the continuing problems with my right knee. It still feels like I'm fighting with scar tissue in the joint. But the pain isn't localized to a specific part of the knee, although it's possible that the issue "moves around" as I overwork this part or that in the course of my day. Because of what goes on with my gait, I can also have pain down to the ankle, or up through the hip and into the lower back.

I suspect an MRI of that joint is in my near future, followed by either PT, or surgery then PT.

The garden is doing okay, but over-crowded. Next year, fewer tomato plants, and WAY fewer habanero pepper plants (there are six, and that's too much pain to be growing.
